Industrial Keynote: Dr. Detlev Richter - TÜV Süd

Digital transformation of manufacturing requires Trustworthiness along the lifecycle:
Are intelligent digital twins and distributed agents enough to achieve holistic understanding of assets, context and environment within dynamic system of systems?

While Digital Transformation is more than smart technology, the presentation aims to stress the importance of trustworthiness, placing the trustworthiness of intelligent digital twins at the beginning of the development. This includes the comparison of fundamental (safety & security) methods and concepts in order to enable multi-agent-based systems to derive trustworthy decision based on incomplete, wrong and fuzzy digital data by utilizing the holistic capabilities of systems of digital twins by using well-known functional safety techniques to achieve a remaining dangerous failure rate of the system of 10-9 or 10-10. In addition, a couple of missing mathematical concepts and architectures are highlighted to set a standard how timing constraints for the so-called front-running capabilities of digital twins has to be used by intelligent agents to derive mission and safety-critical decisions for the future behavior. Furthermore, it is discussed what kind of run-time validation and vertification is needed in order for such systems to fulfill current and upcoming regulations. The Operational Safety Intelligence will summarize the currently developed TÜV SÜD service portfolio for the technical lifecycle of digital-twin-based systems as part of the journey.
